Lately

It’s been a busy few weeks with cakes and parties (amongst other things). Here are a few projects I have been working on. Hudson’s mummy put her little boy’s party together and booked Red Carousel for the cake, cookies and chicken sausage rolls. Tableware and decorations came from  our shop and items hired from us for the food table. Pics below.  It was a gorgeous party at the Garden House PreSchool, which is just amazing in itself!

I made the pony cake for Sophia’s 4th birthday celebrated at Riders Cafe. My girls and I attended this party and the highlight was definitely the pony ride! So much fun for the kids!Ponycake_sm

This was a ‘Milk and Cookies’ cake inspired by one of our printables. I loved the soft colour palette. milkandcookies_sm

Recycled Craft Series for Young Parents Magazine

It’s been really exciting working for Young Parents Magazine again. They comissioned me to create a three part ‘recycled craft’ series. The January edition was Chinese New Year Inspired, with hobby horse, pineapple rattle and a fish lolly box. February was about Valentines Day, where I made heart crayons, a candle holder and paper heart decorations. The March edition, which was just released, included crafts for kid’s bedroom interiors.  

The team at Young Parents are uber professional and I loved how the photos turned out. Great to see our ideas come to life. And of course a huge thrill to see it all in print! young parents March 2014youngparentsfeb2014youngparents_Jan2014

Rainbow Smash Cake

 

 

 

I worked with the amazing Cici from Bamboo Shoots on this cake smash photo shoot.  Really pleased with how it turned out – always a bonus when the little subject is super cute! It was Luca’s first or second time eating cake, so he was a little unsure about the whole experience but we managed to capture a few giggles. 

 

I made a 6 layer rainbow cake. The sponge is a regular butter cake. By omitting the egg yolks in the recipe, brighter colours can be achieved. Buttercream ruffles were used to decorate the whole cake and a handmade fondant rainbow went on top. Here’s a snippet of the piping technique on instagram.

Lately

 

 

Happy {Chinese} New Year all! I’m just popping in to update you on a few of the projects I have been working on. 

 

Last year, I ended the year in a busy frantic rush but my favourite orders included these customised cookies and the Winter Onderland dessert table below.

A little bit about the dessert table…Michelle contacted Red Carousel with her ‘Winter Onderland’ theme and we came up with the rest! I decided early on that we would go with a ‘Snow Globe’ theme.

 

The elephant was drawn especially for the invitation and used throughout the printables. The cake was a lot of fun to make. I purchased the plastic light covering to use as the ‘globe’. The cake itself was a chocolate fudge cake with nutella filling. Yum! 

 

Other highlights include: 

– The snow globes I made using mason jars turned upside down and filled with winter type items such as branches, pinecones, fake snow etc. 

– The cardboard houses I purchased from Etsy and decorated. They were so cute with the flickering fake candle inside.

 A few weeks ago I made these two cakes below. The cake based on Epic, the movie was a collaboration with Nirosha from Partners in Cake.

 

The princess castle cake was for the same customer, who was thrilled with both cakes! Win! epic1_sm princesssofia2sm
