Firefighter theme cake

This was our first ‘Firefighter’ themed cake and it was a pleasure to make! Adil and Nadrah’s mum wanted two ‘hummingbird’ flavour cakes for the joint party. I used rice krispie treats for the inside of the fire engine, making it all edible. This was a mixture of rice krispies, butter and marshmallows. I shaped it in a rectangle and then covered it with fondant. It worked surprisingly well and tasted pretty yummy! I tried new facial features for the figurine and paid particular attention to the eyes and mouth.
We were also asked to provide some matching cookies and decorations – the big balloons and tassel worked well with the theme colours. A few other items were hired from us too, such as the drinks dispenser, table cloth, wooden tray and cookie jars.

It’s been a busy few weeks with cakes and parties (amongst other things). Here are a few projects I have been working on. Hudson’s mummy put her little boy’s party together and booked Red Carousel for the cake, cookies and chicken sausage rolls. Tableware and decorations came from  our shop and items hired from us for the food table. Pics below.  It was a gorgeous party at the Garden House PreSchool, which is just amazing in itself!

I made the pony cake for Sophia’s 4th birthday celebrated at Riders Cafe. My girls and I attended this party and the highlight was definitely the pony ride! So much fun for the kids!Ponycake_sm

Poppy’s 2nd birthday party : Milk and Cookies theme

Hello there! Excuse my haphazard blog posts…I’ve been buried in work – all types of work…the online shop, cake decorating classes, styling projects, cake and cookie orders etc. It feels pretty relentless at the moment. Not that I’m complaining! Business has been great, but I need an office assistant. Paper work is definitely my weakness!

Now onto more lovely things…I recently organised and styled a party for my wee little girl Poppy. She turned two and we celebrated with a Milk and Cookies theme. We held the party at home (I moved a lot of furniture around) and it all worked out beautifully. More photos on Red Carousel’s facebook page.

Party Planning: Red Riding Hood Party

red riding hoodMy daughter, Ivy, is turning 6 and her birthday party is scheduled for some time in Septembe.  We have decided on the theme Little Red Riding Hood. There is a plethora of inspiration out there for this fun theme, so I have started a Pinterest board here. Check it out if you’re interested in ideas.

I have started Ivy’s outfit and of course, first up is the red hood! I used the pattern from here. It’s a great pattern, really easy to follow and quick to make.

I also decorated a wooden apple with paint and matching polka dot fabric. Not sure where this will go yet – perhaps the dessert table…watch this space for more updates!
