Being a bit of a girly girl, naturally I loved working on these floral cookies for a baby shower. All the flowers were handmade. Quite time consuming but it was a fun process. I can’t wait to show off this amazing baby shower that a friend of mine put together. Just wow, that is all.
This cookies and cake set was a pleasure to make too. The trickiest part was geting the teal colour right. The client gave me the invitation to work with and I had to match the colours. The teal was achieved with a mixture of Wilton cornflour blue, dark teal and sky blue (white fondant).
It’s been a busy few weeks with cakes and parties (amongst other things). Here are a few projects I have been working on. Hudson’s mummy put her little boy’s party together and booked Red Carousel for the cake, cookies and chicken sausage rolls. Tableware and decorations came from our shop and items hired from us for the food table. Pics below. It was a gorgeous party at the Garden House PreSchool, which is just amazing in itself!
I made the pony cake for Sophia’s 4th birthday celebrated at Riders Cafe. My girls and I attended this party and the highlight was definitely the pony ride! So much fun for the kids!
This was a ‘Milk and Cookies’ cake inspired by one of our printables. I loved the soft colour palette.
I am finally getting around to posting the photos of Ivy’s 6th birthday party and a little write up. You can see more images here on facebook.
We had a great afternoon, with lots of guests. Our generous friends gave us free reign of their big back yard for the party, as I wanted a garden to fit in with the Little Red Riding Hood theme. Guests commented that it felt like a carnival with the crowd and all the different ‘stations’ – we had a manned hot dog stand, a jumping castle, face painting and tattoos, balloon sculpting, a craft room and the food area. As suspected, the Singapore weather wreaked havoc with my outdoor plans. It threatened to rain all morning and then an hour before the party, there was a downpour. Then it stopped raining…and became hot! Really really hot! Boy, were we all sweaty…
Now about the theme – Little Red Riding Hood was a fun theme to work with. Red is an easy colour to find decorations for and I paired it with white and green as the secondary colours. It was a good unisex theme with lots of creative options to play with.
I gave the dessert table a bit of a woodland feel, with the backdrop, trees and burlap tablecloth. I made the rag bunting from fat quarters sold at Spotlight. The bunting is simply made with a rotary blade to cut the strips and then tied evenly to a rope. So easy and striking. Most of the presentation items and props you see are available for rent from us in Singapore.
This year, I decided I didn’t have to be a matyr and enlisted some help! Partners in Cake made the adorable cookies and I dressed them up with the packaging (tissue paper, cello bags and ribbon). Cute hey?! Very popular with the kids!
Toffee apples…remember these as a little kid? My husband was so excited when I had a brain wave to make these the night before. Recipe here.
The cake…I made a chocolate fudge cake which withstood the heat thankfully. Good old fondant! I had fun giving the cake a little bit of a vintage feel with the wallpapered house, peeking grandmother, bunting and muted colours.
Little jars filled with hard candy – these disappeared very quickly. I purchased the candy in bulk and put them in the jars (from Daiso).

Hello there! Excuse my haphazard blog posts…I’ve been buried in work – all types of work…the online shop, cake decorating classes, styling projects, cake and cookie orders etc. It feels pretty relentless at the moment. Not that I’m complaining! Business has been great, but I need an office assistant. Paper work is definitely my weakness!
Now onto more lovely things…I recently organised and styled a party for my wee little girl Poppy. She turned two and we celebrated with a Milk and Cookies theme. We held the party at home (I moved a lot of furniture around) and it all worked out beautifully. More photos on Red Carousel’s facebook page.

Hi there! I’ve been quite busy in the last week with shop orders – lots of fun party supplies and printables sent to different parts of the world. I also completed two cakes, which I loved working on! Next week my friends and I are doing a one day Stephanie Wee cake course at Artistiq – I’m hoping to learn how to achieve those beautiful sharp edges you see from the top cake makers. I have a full schedule up until the last week of this month, before our family go on a vacation to Phuket. Hubbie and I are looking forward to a lot of rest!
